Why Join LBCA

The Lake Burton Civic Association (LBCA) stands as a beacon of community engagement, environmental stewardship, and public safety. Since its founding in 1969, LBCA has evolved from a grassroots effort to support Volunteer Fire Departments (VFDs) into a multifaceted organization that touches nearly every aspect of lake life.

Today, LBCA focuses on four key areas:

Water Quality

  • Water testing and aquatic plant monitoring across eight lake zones

  • Annual lake clean-up days, in partnership with Georgia Power

Water Safety

  • DNR safety meetings

  • Educational video productions

Preservation

  • Ongoing project to mitigate shoreline erosion threats to Billy Goat Island

  • Monitor and raise awareness of any environmental issues impacting preservation

Community Building

  • Offer events like the Summer Vibes concerts, the Tour of Homes, the Annual LBCA Golf Tournament and much more

  • Maintain Lake Burton Park

  • LBCA Foundation Grants Program* supports VFDs and Rabun County charitable organizations

  • LBCA Foundation Scholarship Program* awards scholarships to promising Rabun County students

Additional benefits include Members Only Events, the printed and online Membership Directory, LBCA decals, and merchandise.

*All LBCA Foundation expenses are funded through donations.
